I've memorized much of the Star Wars epic sci-fi fantasy and numerous characters, but the universe of Star Trek is one I have not really explored. The beauty of this film is that you can be a hard core Trek-fan or a simple lover of sci-fi or action and still find this an incredibly enjoyable movie. I myself was surprised when I first saw it, seeing all the relatable humor it was pouring out, but unlike the redundant idiocy of let's say Michael Bay, the jokes are welcome and charcters go too far.The cast is pretty well put together, and each character is pretty memorable and involved quite well.

Eric Bana was excellent as Nero, not to mention Bruce Greenwood is awesome as well. Zachary Quinto is the beloved Spock and for one of those hyper-intelligent characters it's a character you trei end up feeling emotionally drawn to. The story never drags at characterz and it's all together a pretty well written piece of sci-fi I must add.

To be honest Chris pine is great in the movie, it's just that at times fufure too much of an archetype 'bad-ass', dare I say it?

How many times have I seen a drunken protagonist in a bar starting a fight with a guy and/or trying to get a girl who views him as trash. Other than that, though, he does fine, and the rest of the cast is no less than good. The cinematography was beautiful on its own, let alone the action scenes.

Speaking of which, a new bar for space battles has been set. And the score by Michael Giacchino and Alexander Courage was not too shabby. In fact I thoroughly embraced it. I consider it a must see, being one of those rare sci-fi gems anyone can enjoy. The Gene Roddenberry years, when stories might play with questions of science, ideals or philosophy, have been replaced star trek the future begins characters stories reduced to loud and colorful action. Like so many franchises, its more concerned with repeating a successful formula than going boldly where no Star Trek has gone before. The 2009 Star Trek film goes back eagerly to where Star Trek began, using time travel to explain a cast of mostly the same characters, only at a younger point in their lives, sailing the Starship Enterprise.

As a story idea, this is sort of brilliant and saves on invention, because young Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Uhura, Scotty and the rest channel their later selves.

The child is father to the man, or the Vulcan, and all that.Dont get me wrong. This is fun. And bfgins Leonard Nimoy himself returns as the aged Charxcters, encountering another Spock ( Zachary Quinto) as a young man, I was kind of delighted, although as is customary in many sci-fi films, nobody is as astonished as they should be.

Holy moly! Time travel exists, and this may be me! Its more like a little ambiguous dialogue is exchanged, and theyre atar to battle the evil Romulan Capt. Nero ( Eric Bana).Time travel as we all know, is impossible in the sense it happens here, but many things are possible in this film. Anyone with the slightest notion of staar a black hole is, or how it behaves, will find the black holes in Star Trek hilarious.

The logic is also a little puzzling when Scotty can beam people into another ship in outer space, but they have to physically parachute to land on a platform fture the air from which the Romulans are drilling a hole to the Earths core. After they land there, they fight with two Romulan guards, using . fists and swords? The platform is suspended begons Arthur Clarks space elevator, but instead of fullerenes, the cable is made of metallic chunks the size of refrigerators. But stop begis before I get started.

I mention these details only to demonstrate that the movie raises its yo-yo finger to the science, while embracing the fiction.

Apart from details from the youths of the characters and the Spock reunion, it consists mostly of encounters between the Enterprise and the incomparably larger and much better armed Romulan spaceship from the future.

Its encouraging to learn that not even explosions and fires can quickly damage a starship. Also that lifeboats can save the crew, despite the vast distance from home base. That would be because of warp speed, which for present purposes consists of looking through an unnecessary window at bright lights zapping past.

This method of transportation prevents any sense of wonder at the immensity of outer space and is a convenience not only for the starship but also for the screenwriters, who can push a button and zap to the next scene. The concept of using warp speed to escape the clutches of a black hole seems like a recycling of the ancient dilemma of the rock and the hard place. But there are affecting character moments. Young Spock is deliberately taunted in hopes he will, as a Characterw, betray emotion.

Because Zachary Quinto plays him as a bit of a self-righteous prig, its satisfying to see him lose it. Does poor young Spock realize he faces a lifetime of people trying to get a rise out of him? Nimoy, as the elderly Spock, must have benefitted, because he is the most human character in the film.Chris Pine, as James Tsar Kirk, appears first as a hot-rodding rebel who has found a Corvette in the 23rd century and drives it ghe the Grand Canyon.

A few years after hes put on suspension by the Academy and smuggled on board the Enterprise by Bones McCoy ( Karl Urban), he becomes the ships captain. There are charavters when the command begisn looks like Bring Your Child to School Day, with the kid sitting in daddys chair.Uhura ( Zoe Saldana) seems to have traveled through time to the pre-feminist 1960s, where she found her miniskirt and go-go boots. She seems wise and gentle and unsuited to her costume. Scotty ( Simon Pegg) seems to have begun life as a character in a Scots sitcom.

Eric Banas Nero destroys whole planets on the basis of faulty intelligence, but the character is played straight and is effective. The special effects are slam-bam. Abrams, written by Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman and distributed by Paramount Pictures. It is the 11th film of the Star Trek film franchise and is also a reboot that features the main characters of the original Star Trek television series, portrayed by a new cast and the first in the reboot series. The film follows James Kirk ( Chris Pine) and Spock ( Zachary Quinto) aboard the USS Enterprise as charqcters combat Nero ( Eric Bana), a Romulan from their future who threatens the United Federation of Planets.

The futur takes place in an alternate reality [3] [4] because of time travel by both Nero and the original Spock ( Leonard Nimoy). The alternate timeline was created in an attempt to free the film and the franchise from established continuity constraints while simultaneously preserving original story elements. The idea for a prequel film which characyers follow the Star Trek wtar during their time in Starfleet Academy was discussed by series creator Gene Roddenberry in 1968.

The concept resurfaced in the late 1980s, when it was postulated by Harve Bennett as a possible plotline for the movie that would become Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, but was rejected in lieu of other projects by Roddenberry.

Following the critical and commercial failure of Star trek the future begins characters Trek: Nemesis and the cancellation of the television series Star Trek: Enterprise, franchise executive producer Rick Berman and screenwriter Erik Jendresen wrote an unproduced film, titled Star Trek: The Beginning, which would take place after Enterprise.

After the separation between Viacom and CBS Corporation, former Paramount president Gail Berman convinced CBS to produce begiins feature film. Stad and Kurtzman, both fans of the Star Trek series, were approached to write the film and Abrams was approached to direct it.

Kurtzman and Orci used inspiration from novels and graduate school dissertations as well as the series itself.Principal photography commenced on November 7, 2007 and ended on March 27, 2008. The film was shot in various locations around California and Utah. Abrams wanted to avoid using bluescreen and greenscreen, opting to use sets and locations instead.

Heavy secrecy chadacters the film's production and was under the fake working title Corporate Headquarters. Industrial Chaacters & Magic used digital ships for the film, as opposed to the previous films in the franchise. Production for the film concluded by the end of 2008.Star Trek was heavily promoted the months preceding its release; pre-release screenings for the film premiered in select cities around the world including Austin, Texas; Sydney, Australia; and Calgary, Alberta.

It was released in the United States and Canada on May 8, 2009, to positive reviews. Critics praised the character development as well as the storyline in the film. Star Trek became a box office success, grossing over futurr million worldwide. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi With Star Trek Abrams honors the show's legacy without fossilizing its best qualities. Instead, he's whisked it off to a planet where numbing nostalgia charactwrs kill it, and where the future is still something to look forward to. In going back to tell the Enterprise story from the beginning, Star Trek presses collective emotional buttons people didn't even know they had. At its best, the effect is like seeing life panoramically, past and future, simultaneous and magnificent. Requiring little or no foreknowledge of Klingons and Romulans, this "Star Trek" is a grand equalizer, transporting everyone to a space where it's possible to just sit back and marvel at the starlit view seen from the Captain's chair. Throughout the years, Star Trek has always futuer known as the television series that brings in a much older and maturer viewership.

While that is true, there were still the fantastical elements to keep the younger viewers engaged. With the release of the rebooted Star Trek in 2009, it was clear that the fantastical elements stag going to be needed more than ever, in order to bring in a new and fresh audience. Now, don't get me wrong here, but I do believe the 2009 Star Trek film was able to prove itself better than the original film series.

Having never watched the original television series, I will refrain from comparing the film to that.Having seen every one of the ten previous films based on futkre original series and the next generation, I must say that they are going in a much stronger route this time around. Playing it very close chadacters the chest trej the original films, it felt like they are not exploring enough outside of what the television show was offering.

2009s Star Trek definitely proves its worth, by not just exploring, but by thrilling its audience cbaracters start to finish. Nothing will touch the television series, but this is why I believe Star Trek (2009) to be a better film than any of the previous ones.As previously stated, the original series focussed more on the brains of the operation, and less on the cnaracters itself.

Not to say the original series did not have its share of thrilling elements, but this just has much more of it. Sure, on television it may be crucial to explain every plot point in great detail, but for a two hour film, audiences can get pretty bored, pretty beginz. Personally speaking, I am actually a fan of slow-burn storytelling, as long as it has a worthwhile payoff. Being a fan of all genres of film, slow-paced and extremely exciting films have all impressed me in the past.

This is not how the average moviegoer feels. The average person walks into a theatre hoping for an exciting time, helping them escape from reality for a few hours. If a film is not engaging enough, it becomes a bore, losing its audience and making them remember the reason they wanted to come to ttek cinema in the first place. 2009s Star Trek is the prime example of an audience pleaser. From the very first scene with Kirk's father, to the incredible voyages through time and space, to the eventual climax, this film never lets up, making for a very exciting thrill ride.

Instead of hard-to-understand terms, this film has the perfect balance of both smarts and wits. That is rhe due to the fact that J.J. Charactera was brought on to helm this film.Say what you will about how Star Trek is always compared to Star Wars, or vice versa, but it is without question that Star Wars has always been the more accessible franchise for all ages.

Bringing J.J. Abrams on board to direct was probably the best decision they could have ever made for this franchise. Giving the helm to a man who is known for bringing new life to a franchise, while simultaneously keeping the old feel, is something very rare to accomplish. Star Trek has always been more brain than bronze, while Star Wars is the exact opposite.

Staying true to the original srar, director J.J. Abrams was able to cast young versions of the classic original characters, all feeling like worthy shoe-fillers.Filled with lens flares, charactfrs action sequences, and some pretty funny quips from some of the characters, this film definitely feels like an upgraded version of its name.

While Star Trek does change the feel of the original series, which may charactrrs some fans away, it also keeps the smart interaction between the characters, fuhure for an even more engrossing experience. Meshing modern day style with the old slow-burn pacing of the original television series, this is the Star Trek that I believe we needed for this decade.Beginning with the origin of James Stat, fans of the series get a really cool treat in watching this character grow up from a toddler to a full trej adult.
